Veliko Tarnovo History Museum Wins Bulgaria’s First Museum Poster Contest with Thracian Treasure Exhibit
The Regional Museum of History in the northern Bulgarian city of Veliko Tarnovo has won Bulgaria’s first National Museum Poster Review evaluating posters promoting museums around the country and their exhibitions.
The poster of the Veliko Tarnovo Regional Museum of History has won the second prize in the category for a poster promoting a museum or a permanent exhibition, and is the de facto winner as no first prize was awarded.
The winning poster is entitled “The Thracian Dynast’s Tomb”, and promotes the Veliko Tarnovo Museum’s permanent exhibition of the Ancient Thracian treasure from the town of Golemanite.
The poster is authored by Assist. Prof. Dr. Plamen Sabev, an expert at the Regional Museum of History in Veliko Tarnovo.
It depicts the most emblematic artifacts from the Golemanite Treasure which are on display in the museum – a golden breastplate, a vase with mythology scenes depicting Dionysus, and the ring of the Thracian aristocrat.
The National Museum Poster Review was held at the Stoyu Shishkov Regional Museum of History in the southern Bulgarian city of Smolyan, and is co-organized together with Bulgaria’s National Academy of Art in Sofia, Smolyan Municipality, and the Ministry of Culture.
The jury evaluating the museum posters from all over Bulgaria was chaired by Prof. Dimitar Serezliev from the National Academy of Art.
